Canada Revenue Agency e-services
Getting through to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) by phone can be frustrating at times with that all too familiar busy signal. It can take several tries, at different times of the day and numerous redials to get through.
CRA has been working on making improvements to their electronic services. These changes will provide taxpayers with quick access to more data 24 hours a day when needed online, with only a few clicks of the mouse.
To get access to these improved services, an individual must register online for My Account and request a CRA security code which will be mailed to you. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/myaccount/
Once an individual is registered and logged in they will have access to view 10 years’ worth of T-slips data such as:
- T3 Statement of Trust Income
- T5 Statement of Investment Income
- T4RSP Statement of RRSP Income
- T4RIF Statement of Income from RRIF
- T5007 Statement of Benefits
- T5008 Statement of Securities Transactions
- RRSP contribution
An individual will also be able to print a Proof of income statement (Option C) for the last three tax years provided that the returns were filed and assessed. Previously it would take up to 2 weeks to get this statement by mail only after contacting CRA directly.
Other benefits of My Account includes allowing individuals to view their home buyers plan repayment(s) and remaining balance, RRSP limit balance, TFSA balances, track their refund, check their personalized benefit payment amounts and dates.
